George Sarah - Vicissitudes
Neo Classical, Electronic, Filmscore.
George Sarah - Vicissitudes, Album Review. First I felt a lot of love, then sadness, triumph and introspection. Like a conversation with yourself. A review of a long life well lived. Vicissitudes, released in 2021 through Gothic Records has 10 heartwarming compositions. I had my romantic period with neoclassical / filmscore compositions many years ago but I never completely fell in love with it. When one of my favourite bands (Anathema) started to add fragments to their songs while transitioning from metal to… something else is when I got back to these abstract and more experimental melodies. An immense pleasure to have received this on the station’s mail. I will definitely add songs like Rectitude of Mind or Who Sleep the Sleep of Peace (Sorrows Version) to my current playlist.

Vicissitudes comprises music from two very different recent film scores. The first is inspired by Carl Theodor Dreyer’s silent classic ‘The Passion Of Joan of Arc’ (1928 film). Sarah was on tour with a nine piece ensemble consisting of a string quartet, synthesizers and singers throughout North America in 2019-2020 performing at film festivals and performing art centers prior to the lock down. The second is a feature film ‘Her Name Was Jo’ released April, 2021. For the score Sarah assembled a quartet of musicians to record his Americana, Shoe-gaze, Post Rock and Ambient material. Vicissitudes connects two film soundtracks and combines elements of electronic and acoustic, early music and modern classic with a minor key introspection.

Electronic composer and multi-instrumentalist. Former member of T.H.C. (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and Stereotaxic Device (KK Records Belgium). Born in Seoul, South Korea, he moved to the US at the age of five. He has garnered critical acclaim for his unique brand of electronic acoustic music bridging the normally discrete musical worlds of electronic, industrial and classical.
